Coinciding with lent the Veitchi Group decided to offer a challenge to staff to either give up something or take up something healthy over the period of lent. 25 highly motivated individuals took up the challenge making some heavy duty sacrifices such as giving up smoking, chocolate, swearing, alcohol and fizzy drinks as well as taking up swimming, walking, daily acts of kindness and Hmmmmm meditation.
The six members of staff who lasted the pace were Marie Brannan, Paul McArdle, Steven McKenna, Pauline Woods, Chris Lewis and Shannon Inglis. The remaining 19 were happy to pay a £2 fine for each ‘sin’ and all in the event raised £250 for charity.
The overall winner was Marie Brannan (pictured) who was drawn from the six perfect challengees. Marie won a days holiday and the £500 charity donation from the Group which she has awarded to Alzheimers Scotland.
Well done to all who participated and a very well done to Marie who walked over 10000 steps per day to claim the prize.
